Land, Water, Carbon
Sustainable management of land, water and carbon is important to the NSW dairy industry. The industry shares it’s home with some of the State’s most unique and beautiful landscapes. As an industry which relies upon the good health of our natural assets, Dairy NSW, together with partnership agencies, supports it’s farmers through projects to look after our water, soils and biodiversity and also to manage waste and energy consumption.
Dairy farmers can minimise their environmental footprint by improving management of production inputs by:
- reducing fertiliser loss,
- designing and operating effective effluent systems,
- accurately applying irrigated water and providing water troughs for stock outside of native vegetation areas and waterways.
There are measurable wins for overall farm production and profitability.
